Coarse natural salt is suitable, for example, as table salt for salt mills or for cooking in a salt coating.
The salt comes from the famous Salt Range in northeastern Pakistan (Punjab province), which is about 160 km from Islamabad and 260 km from Lahore. The salt mines around Kehwra are located in a foothills of the Himalayas, but are not directly assigned to the Himalayan massif. Alexander salt has therefore also become known in the trade under the term “Himalayan salt”.
