The Buddha has his left arm along the body, his right arm serves as a pillow and the hand supports the head.

The Buddha's left arm lies along his body, the right arm serves as a pillow, the hand supports the head.

The legend goes like this: the giant Asurindarahu wanted to see Buddha, but was hesitant to bow before him. Buddha, although lying down, appeared to be much larger than the giant. He showed him the heavenly kingdom with all the heavenly beings who were greater than the giant. The humble giant then bowed to Buddha before moving on.
