Shungite is a black type of stone and is more than 2 billion years old. It is similar to hard coal and has a unique natural structure that lies between amorphous (non-regularly structured) stone and graphite.

In general, shungite is a type of stone that consists primarily of small, distributed globular carbon particles in a crystalline state. It is a special form of carbon called fullerene. Shungite can absorb (contaminating) particles from its surroundings. It has antibacterial and great adhesive (molecule-attracting) properties, which means it can communicate with other substances. He also has radiation-protective defenses.

Shungite has been used in medical treatments since the 18th century. Peter the Great stood at the cradle of the first Russian health resort in Karelia, where he made use of the water-purifying power of shungite, which he had already personally experienced. He also promoted the use of the stone in the Russian army, where it provided purified water. The antibacterial properties of shungite have been confirmed by modern testing methods.
